The Carol Bone Handmade Pasta Co. was founded by Carol in 2007. The Bone family has a long standing love affair with Italian food.
In a true Italian love story, Giuseppe Boni from Milan and Camilla Franchi from Sicily, fell deeply in love. Neither families approved, so they fled to London and married in 1880, later heading north to Glasgow. Camilla had left the household she was employed in with very little, but she did bring the rolling pin she used to roll her fresh pasta and pound the fresh tomatoes for her sauces.
Our tribute to Camilla - the red rolling pin in our logo!
Stories are many and varied as to how the Boni name eventually became Bone - however we endeavour to remain true to the flavours brought over by Giuseppe and Camilla with a few modern twists of our own. We like to think they’d approve!
Our pasta is handmade by traditional methods in our small custom-built kitchen to the highest standards using locally sourced farm eggs.
Our beef comes from Christies the butchers from their own farm near Glasgow and vegetables when in season are grown less than half a mile away at Craigend Nursery in Cardross.
Good food takes time and we like to cook our sauces long and slow adding nothing but fresh ingredients- no additives, no preservatives just great pasta meals simple as that!
